Maccabi Rishon Lezion is expected to decide today (Friday) who will replace Guy Goodes in the position of coach: the Greek Ilias Papatiudoro or Dror Cohen.
Papatiudoro (46) has in recent years been one of the most esteemed coaches in Greece.
For a year and a half he coached AEK Athens, reached the Champions League final with them and won the Greek Cup before being sacked in the middle of last season.
At the same time he is currently coaching the Swiss national team.
He previously coached PAOK Thessaloniki and also Astana from Kazakhstan.
In 2017, he won the European Under-20 Championship with Greece's reserve team after defeating Israel and Oded Katash in the final.
Cohen (47) worked since 2017 as an assistant coach in Rishon LeZion alongside Zvika Sharaf and Guy Goodes and is professionally appreciated by the club's leaders. At the same time, he worked for the Israeli team alongside Oded Katash and currently serves as Goodes' assistant.
In the game on Saturday (20:00) against Hapoel Jerusalem, assistant coach Alon Stein will continue on the lines, continuing the team until the appointment of a new coach, who will make decisions regarding the professional team.
