The Christmas cycle, Boxing Day, is supposed to be one of the most festive days in the Premier League in particular, and in world football in general.
While most leagues are disabled for the holiday, the English league provides a streak of exciting and thrilling games.
But this year, Corona has other plans.
Nine games were supposed to take place this coming Sunday as part of Boxing Day, but now there are only six left.
Two games were postponed yesterday (Leeds - Liverpool, Watford - Wolves) due to the Corona eruption in Leeds and Watford - and today (Friday) the league announced that the meeting between Burnley and Everton will not take place on Sunday as planned, bringing the number of games postponed to 14 in the last two weeks.
"The board has examined Everton's request to postpone the game due to further staff injuries, and has concluded that the team will not be able to hold the game due to an insufficient number of players on the squad due to the Corona incidents and injuries," the league statement said.
"The league is aware that the decisions to postpone three games on Boxing Day will disappoint the fans, and understands their frustration, precisely at a special time of year when fans expect to come and watch football games."
