Due to several positive cases, two matches of Matchday 13 of the Top 14 have been postponed by the National Rugby League.

The National Rugby League announced on Friday the postponement of two matches of the 13th day of the Top 14 due to cases of Covid-19 within the workforce of Racing 92, the Paloise section and the Union Bordeaux-Bègles.

The Ile-de-France club were to face Section Paloise on Monday at 7 p.m., while UBB was to travel to Mayol on Monday to face RC Toulon.

Following new control tests carried out today and in view of the dynamics of the occurrence of positive cases within the workforce this week, the LNR Competitions Committee meeting urgently this evening decided, on a proposal from the Commission to 'Covid-19 expertise, the postponement of two meetings to a later date

This week, the Bordeaux-Bègles training, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, had been canceled after the discovery of several positive cases for Covid-19 within its workforce.

The opener of the Blues, Matthieu Jalibert, admitted to being one of the positive players at UBB.

Shortly after, Racing 92 in turn had to stop its training, after the detection of several positive cases.

The Section Paloise has also been struck by several cases of Covid.

Resumption of training in the middle of the week

In a press release, the NRL indicates that "

the postponement dates for the two meetings will be communicated later

".

And to add: "

The resumption of training within Racing 92, Section Paloise Béarn Pyrénées and Union Bordeaux-Bègles, under the conditions to be set by the Expertise Commission, is set in the middle next week.

"

While several European Cup matches had been postponed last weekend due to travel restrictions between France and the UK, no match had so far been postponed in the Top 14 this season due to the spread of Covid-19.

The League will find itself facing a puzzle to reset these matches in an already overloaded schedule.
