Ex-Löwen-Coach dies - regular club mourns the loss of "Idol"

The former Bundesliga coach Willibert Kremer has died.

The Rhinelander also trained TSV 1860 Munich - in a difficult phase for the club.

Cologne - Several German professional football clubs mourn a former coach - including TSV 1860 Munich: Former Bundesliga player and coach Willibert Kremer died at the age of 82.

This was announced by his former club Viktoria Köln on Christmas Day.

TSV 1860 Munich: Ex-coach Kremer died - he once led Bayer Leverkusen into the Bundesliga

Kremer had played for Hertha BSC and MSV Duisburg in the Bundesliga.

As a coach he reached the cup final with MSV in 1975 and led Bayer Leverkusen to promotion to the Bundesliga in 1979;

for the factory club it was the beginning of a period of excellence that continues to this day.

After his coaching career, Kremer returned to Leverkusen as a scout for more than ten years.

In 1982 Kremer coached TSV 1860 for a short time - it was the last Bundesliga games for the Löwen before the license revocation and the crash into the Bayernliga.

Born in the Rhineland, he worked as a professional trainer until 1995, including at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Eintracht Braunschweig.

Willibert Kremer: Regular club Viktoria Cologne mourns "Idol"

At Viktoria Kremer played under the later Cologne and Mönchengladbach master coach Hennes Weisweiler in the Oberliga West in the midfield.

“It was with deep dismay that we learned that our former player Willibert Kremer has passed away.

He has always been an idol for Viktoria and has shaped the club on and off the pitch, ”said Viktoria President Günter Pütz after the honorary member's death.
