Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel BS have already won 6-7 consecutive games. Like two children who fight, one says "I am the best", the other answers "I!", And so they continue to shout "I" in the hope that someone will despair.
Maccabi Haifa's game against Sakhnin tonight (Saturday) was not a shout out.
It felt as if Barak Bachar and his players were standing over an abyss and shouting so that the echo would reach the capital of the Negev.
And 0: 6 is a piece of shouting.
Before this round, Haifa and Sakhnin came into the game with their sons from 2nd and 3rd places respectively, but the gaps were like east to west.
This is not just the six but what is in it.
Noble with a double and two touchdowns, Cherry returned to score, stopper Sean Goldberg cooked for another stopper, Ofri Arad, who scored a second game in a row.
And coach Barak Bachar equaled a record of seven consecutive victories in Carmel, all this when in the next round Maccabi Tel Aviv reaches Sami Ofer.
All of these feel like a promo for a big thing, but when raising expectations one has to live up to them.
Haifa scored 39 goals, that's 2.7 goals per game, an average worth a championship.
But apparently this season Haifa will have to break its own records to swing a second plate, shouting "we are the best" every week until the opponent despairs.
There is no other way.
