In his Christmas letter to the fans of Liverpool FC, Jürgen Klopp underlined the importance of medical nursing staff in coping with the corona pandemic.

"These people are the real heroes, and although we are in the 21st month of the pandemic, we must never forget what they have done and continue to do - for you, for me and for everyone else," wrote Klopp on Christmas Day.

Nobody can predict how the pandemic will develop in the coming days, weeks or months, "but one thing is clear to me: together we are stronger," believes Klopp.

This also applies to Liverpool FC in the English Premier League.

The return of the fans to Anfield was "without question the absolute highlight" of his year, wrote Klopp.

As an example, the 54-year-old named the league cup game two days before Christmas against Leicester City, which Liverpool won 5-4 on penalties - after 1: 3 deficit at the break.

"Without your support, the boys' comeback would have been much more difficult," wrote Klopp: "But we did it, and we did it together."

After difficult months at the beginning of the year, his "boys" in Liverpool would again show "why, as their manager, I can call myself the happiest man in the world".

With three points less than leaders Manchester City and only one defeat of the season, Liverpool are in the title race and after a perfect preliminary round they are in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

Klopp and his players can enjoy Christmas longer than usual this year.

The game on Boxing Day (December 26th) against Leeds United has been canceled due to a corona outbreak among the guests.

The LFC continues on Tuesday in Leicester.

At the beginning of the new year, the away games in London at Chelsea (January 2) in the Premier League and at Arsenal (January 5) in the semi-final first leg of the League Cup await.
