This is the first time this season that a Top 14 day has been impacted due to Covid.
The NRL however tightened its anti-Covid protocol a few weeks ago, by forcing non-vaccinated or Covid-19 negative players in the last three months to perform daily antigen or PCR tests, instead of three times a week .
It was also compulsory to wear a mask, outside of periods of physical effort.
According to the NRL, 97% of Top 14 and ProD2 players have an up-to-date vaccination.
As of December 23, the Competitions Committee of the LNR, in agreement with the broadcaster Canal +, had decided to reschedule the La Rochelle-Lyon meeting, initially scheduled for Monday December 27 at 7 p.m., to this same Monday at ... 9:05 p.m., that is to say at the same time as Toulon-UBB.
It was, thus, to anticipate a possible cancellation of this last meeting.
This being now effective, Canal + will have, at least, another match to offer to its subscribers in prime time to complete this fairly truncated Boxing Day weekend with an unwanted guest called coronavirus.
