Former Bundesliga player and coach Willibert Kremer died at the age of 82 after a long illness.
This was announced by his ex-clubs Viktoria Köln and Bayer Leverkusen.
“It was with deep dismay that we learned that our former player Willibert Kremer has died.
He has always been an idol for Viktoria and has shaped the club on and off the pitch.
Our thoughts are with his family «, Viktoria President Günter Pütz is quoted in the message.
Discoverer of Reiner Calmund
The midfielder moved from Viktoria Köln to the Bundesliga, where he played more than 100 games for Hertha BSC and MSV Duisburg.
After the end of his active career in 1971, he began his coaching career.
He led Bayer 04 Leverkusen to promotion to the Bundesliga in 1979.
As a youth coach at the Werkself, he signed their future manager Reiner Calmund.
His former club Bayer 04 Leverkusen condoled on Twitter.
Among other things, Kremer coached TSV 1860 Munich, Fortuna Düsseldorf and Eintracht Braunschweig in his twenty-year career.
