No points on the Christmas weekend: The EC Peiting also came away empty-handed in the Sunday game.

Against the "Eisbären Regensburg" three overpay goals in a row didn't help - because otherwise too much went wrong.

Peiting - The top teams of the Oberliga remain (still) invincible for the EC Peiting: Against the "Eisbären" Regensburg it was a 3-8 defeat on Sunday evening. “We weren't ready,” said ECP trainer Anton Saal soberly. Against the best offensive in the league (so far 5.7 goals per game) "we tried to counter it with standing ice hockey," said Saal. Due to three overpay goals, Peiting came back into the game, but that turned out to be a flash in the pan. “In the five-on-five game, we were shown the limits,” the ECP trainer clarified.

The Regensburg team set a great pace right from the start. That, coupled with the sometimes hair-raising target losses of the Peitinger in their own zone, led to numerous chances for the guests. The hosts' first noteworthy offensive action took place in the seventh minute: a long-range shot from Maximilian Söll. A little later, the Regensburg maneuvered a sharp cross pass from Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa almost into their own goal (10th). Then a Peitinger negligence: Captain Andreas Feuerecker lost the disc, Constantin Ontl scored 1-0 (11th). After further guest opportunities, ECP-Coach Saal took a break (12th). But the home side did not get on the track. Erik Keresztury increased to 2-0 (13th) - the Regensburg team were allowed to play together undisturbed. In the first power play, the ECP also had a few optionsit wasn't enough for a hit.

His shots were right: Captain Andreas Feuerecker (in blue) scored the 1: 5 and 2: 5 in the majority, thus ringing in a strong Peitinger phase. In the end, however, the ECP lost significantly to Regensburg. © Holger Wieland

In the middle third, Peiting started outnumbered and, as usual, solved the task with confidence.

After that it seemed as if the ECP should be able to keep things balanced.

But soon another setback: Richard Divis was completely overlooked in a Regensburg play, he hit with a direct shot to make it 3-0 (25th).

A few moments later, ECP goalkeeper Florian Hechenrieder was there with a great save.

The following face-off led to a Regensburg shot from the blue line - the puck rushed into the goal to make it 4-0 (26th).

Shortly thereafter, the ECP was outnumbered and the "polar bears" increased to 5: 0 (30th).

Tomas Schwamberger scored both goals.

What followed was a riot on the part of the Peitinger, who made impressive use of several penalty times of the "polar bears". Captain Feuerecker scored the 1: 5 (32nd / in double majority) and the 2: 5 (33rd) each with a full shot. Peiting turned up now. As a result, Nardo Nagtzaam (33.) and Ty Morris and Thomas Heger (37.) failed in quick succession. In the next majority, Feuerecker didn't pull off, but skilfully placed across Florian Stauder - who scored to make it 3: 5 (39th).

The final third of the ECP began (Marco Habermann couldn't get on the ice again because of an inner ligament injury), but was soon slowed down. After an unsuccessful defensive action, Lukas Heger, the brother of ECP striker Thomas Heger, grabbed the puck and hit from an acute angle to 6: 3 (42nd). Then Morris failed to "polar bear" keeper Peter Holmgren (43.). A little later, two Peitinger were on the penalty bench, the guests increased after a good combination to 7: 3 (45th). Two minutes later, the Peitinger conceded their second goal in excess. As with the seventh goal, Andrew Schembri had scored (47th). With that everything was decided.

Statistics:

1st third: 0: 1 (10:15) Ontl (Heger, Keresztury), 0: 2 (12:47) Keresztury (Weber, Tippmann).

2nd third: 0: 3 (24:42) Divis (Bühler, Gajovsky), 0: 4 (25:46) Schwamberger (Heider, Schembri), 0: 5 (29:35) Schwamberger (Schembri, Schütz / 4- 5), 1: 5 (31:01) Feuerecker (Nagtzaam, Arkiomaa / 5-3), 2: 5 (32:04) Feuerecker (Morris, Heger / 5-4), 3: 5 (38:25) Stauder (Feuerecker, Czogallik / 5-4).

3rd third: 3: 6 (41:27) Heger (Keresztury, Ontl), 3: 7 (44:48) Schembri (Gulda, Weber / 5-3), 3: 8 (46:41) Schembri (Schwamberger, Contactor / 4-5).
