Due to many cases of Covid-19 in the ranks of the Metropolitans 92, the Elite Basket match between Le Portel and Boulogne-Levalloi

French sport is strongly affected by the rise in positive cases of Covid 19. After the announcements relating to the postponement of several Top 14 rugby matches, basketball is, in turn, affected.

The meeting between Le Portel and Boulogne-Levallois, initially scheduled for Monday as part of the 14th day of Basketball Elite, has thus been postponed this Sunday to another date.

Unbeaten in the league for 12 days, the leader was therefore forced to bow to a more pernicious and worrying opponent. The Metropolitans 92 have warned the League and their opponent, explaining that they were not able to travel to play this meeting. Hard hit by the Coronavirus, the team led by Vincent Collet could not register enough players to challenge Le Portel (according to the health protocol of the National League, seven players and the coach must be tested negative for the meeting to have place).

Boulogne-Levallois has four players positive for Covid-19 in the person of Miralem Halilovic, Keith Hornsby - already absent Thursday during the victory against Bourg-en-Bresse -, Tony Crocker and Tomer Ginat.

Sick but negative for Coronavirus, Steeve Ho You Fat is not available to play against Le Portel.

As a result, Vincent Collet can only line up six players to play this meeting.

Monday's match between Paris Basketball and Châlons-Reims is also threatened, due to several cases of Covid-19 in the Parisian ranks.

This is not the first match postponed in Betclic Elite since Nanterre had been obliged to postpone its last three outings in 2021 due to numerous cases of Covid in its ranks.

The All Star Game, the great celebration of French basketball, canceled last year due to the health situation, is not currently in question.

It must still take place in a sold-out Accor Arena on Wednesday.

For now…
