Maccabi Rishon Lezion announced today (Sunday) the appointment of Dror Cohen to the position of head coach in place of Guy Goodes.
In the previous five seasons, Cohen (47) served as an assistant coach under Shmulik Brenner, Zvika Sharaf and Guy Goodes and took a large part in the club's arrival in the most senior positions in Israeli basketball.
Since 2017, he has also worked as an assistant coach of the Israeli national team alongside Oded Katash and then Goodes.
He is now getting his first chance as head coach of the Premier League and will try to get the team out of the difficult situation it is in.
Cohen said after the signing: "Once I got the phone call from Perry I had no doubt I was taking on this task.
I am very attached to the club and feel at home in it.
We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I am sure that with the help of joint forces we will be able to keep the team in the league and move it forward. "
