Revenge failed, although it didn't look like it for a long time.
Erding - Four days after the 1: 7 defeat at TSV Peißenberg there was on Sunday evening for the Erding Gladiators on their own ice against the same opponent after extra time a 5: 6 (3: 0, 2: 3, 0: 2; 0: 1) - defeat.
In the meantime, the gladiators had already led 4: 1.
Erding coach Thomas Vogl had two development license defenders from Deggendorf with Kevin Lengle and Paul Wallek. Lars Bernhardt, Alex Gantschnig and Timo Borrmann were still missing, and Wassilij Guft-Sokolov was not available. But there were also two surprises, because after several weeks of injury, Daniel Krzizok and Florian Zimmermann were back on the ice earlier than expected.
And that should pay off, because in the 7th minute Zimmermann put the Gladiators in the lead. The Erdinger team was no longer recognizable compared to the last few weeks. Joyful to play and full of self-confidence, she kindled an incredible pressure on the Peißenberger goal guarded by Korbinian Sertl. The strong goalkeeper held first class, but was then overcome by Philipp Michl to make it 2-0 (10th). And when Marko Babic approached him alone after a defensive mistake, Sertl had to reach behind him for the third time (12th). He prevented the possible fourth Erdinger goal a little later with a brilliant save against Michael Trox. It wasn't that the Miners had no options, but a defender kept throwing himself in or Thomas Mende fended off.
The Gladiators went into the second period, two men short, and it took just 33 seconds for Tomas Rousek to score 3-1.
But no sooner were the Erdinger complete again than Trox closed after great Michl preparatory work to 4: 1 (23rd).
But the table third was far from defeated, and after a Peißenberger double strike by Martin Andrä in the majority and newcomer Dejan Vogl within only 64 seconds, the game was open again.
Then the Miners were outnumbered again, but Zimmermann was sent on the trip by Mark Waldhausen and closed the break to make it 5: 3 (38th).
The Gladiators were also outnumbered in the final third, but this time they did not concede a goal.
But in the 46th minute, when the hosts ran into a counterattack, which Martin Andrä completed ice cold to 4: 5.
Now it got dramatic.
The game rocked back and forth, there were chances on both sides, but the Peißenberg Miners were again able to cheer when Vogl scored to make it 5: 5 (51st).
So it was even after 60 minutes, and it went into overtime.
And that lasted just under two minutes, when Athanasios Fissekis prevailed and made it 6: 5 for Peißenberg.
