+++ UPDATE +++
London - For years, German darts hopes have failed too early to trigger a real hype about the sport of arrows.
With Florian Hempel * and Gabriel Clemens *, two players are now preparing to advance to the second round of the World Cup.
Both could not celebrate Christmas with their family in Germany, instead they organized a Christmas dinner together.
They prepare for their encounters in the third round together at the target.
Darts World Cup: Florian Hempel - Raymond Smith in the live ticker
World Cup debutant Hempel will play against Australian Raymond Smith at 4.30 p.m. on Monday, and his chances are not bad.
At 11 p.m., Clemens has a much heavier chunk of paper in front of his chest with the Welsh Jonny Clayton.
If both move into the second round, the best German result in World Cup history would be perfect.
The "Kölsche Jung" Hempel wants (and has to) unpack his best darts again against "The Gentleman" Smith.
His opponent is just as much an outsider as he is. Will he make it into the last 16?
We accompany the game in the live ticker.
