Dominic Krabbat's three-pack doesn't help the EC Peiting

Whenever the EC Peiting and the Höchstadter EC meet, excitement is guaranteed.

It was no different on Tuesday.

The Peitinger had imagined the outcome of the game differently.

Höchstadt - The third Oberliga duel between EC Peiting and Höchstadter EC this season was also an exciting and close affair. Unlike the first two times, the ECP drew the short straw this time: On Tuesday evening, Upper Bavaria lost 3: 4 away. For Peiting it was the third consecutive defeat after the games against Weiden and Regensburg. "You just have series during the season when things don't go that way," said Peiting's coach Anton Saal. He was not satisfied with the performance of his team yesterday, especially in the first part of the game.

“Entertaining” - this adjective is the best way to describe the first third. The teams showed a good pace and created numerous goal opportunities. The two keepers, Florian Hechenrieder (Peiting) and Benjamin Dirksen (Höchstadt), showed that they are masters of their profession. But it hit the box twice. After a good start for the "Alligators", Nardo Nagtzaam cleverly stole the target from a defender behind the Höchstadter goal and matched Dominic Krabbat, who scored 1-0 (3rd). "After that, they thought we were wide awake," said Saal. But the ECP was unable to take command. The hosts - most recently with two defeats in three games - soon caught up.After a strong pass, Jannik Herm rushed to Hechenrieder alone and scored to make it 1: 1 (9th).

At the beginning of the middle third, when Anton Seewald had a chance, the post saved the Peitinger from falling behind (22nd). It took a while for the ECP to get going. Then the guests managed to establish themselves in the attack zone and had two top opportunities within seconds thanks to Thomas Heger and Ty Morris (27th). In the urge phase, the Höchstadter fell 2-1 through a violent shot by Seewald (28th). After that, Peiting sometimes struggled to get out of his own zone. When the guests did come to an attack, Dominic Krabbat showed a feat: from the tightest angle he flicked the puck with the back of the club over Dirksen's shoulder to make it 2-2 into the goal (34th). Less than a minute later, Höchstadt was back in front: Herm had been alluded to,With a skilful movement he left both opponents Tim Mühlegger and keeper Hechenrieder no chance - it was 3: 2 (35th).

The guests were doubly outnumbered for almost two minutes - and showed why they are number one in the league when it comes to penalty killing.

On top of that, Hechenrieder parried strongly so that they survived this situation.

“That gave us a boost,” said Saal.

He was satisfied with the performance in the following final section.

At the start of the final third, Hechenrieder had to show all his skills against Dominik Zbaranski (42nd). After that it was the Peitinger who aggressively ensured a lot of activity. Sometimes they literally besieged the "alligators" housing. But only a blatant mistake by the Höchstadter in the construction made it possible to equalize: Krabbat finished with his third goal that evening to 3: 3 (48th). A disc loss on the Peitinger side brought the Höchstadter back to the front: Seewald scored to 4: 3 (54th). Four minutes before the end, Höchstadt received a bank fine. Peiting could not use the majority. The ECP took the goalkeeper off the ice, combined, shot, tried everything - but Dirksen was insurmountable.
