That was a major setback in the playoff race: EV Moosburg twice gave up a lead in Vilshofen and ultimately got the short straw 3: 6.

Vilshofen / Moosburg

- EV Moosburg got a nasty surprise in the third to last game of the preliminary round: At ESC Vilshofen, the leaders of the table conceded a 3-6 bankruptcy and thus lost the second leg against the new national league seventh. The guests took the lead twice in the pouring rain in the open-air stadium in Vilshofen. In the crucial moments on Tuesday, however, the EVM lacked the bite and the willingness to invest everything in victory.

It started in the first third when the green-yellows took control and scored the 1-0 as planned (8th).

Stefan Groß had fired a shot at the goal of ESC keeper Alex Krenn and Daniel Schander used the rebound.

After that, the guests had some excellent chances to extend their lead.

But Miloslav Horava and Co. did not put the puck in the box.

For this, the EVM defense had Vilshofen Lukas Doubrawa put on two additional shots (16th), so that it was only 1: 1 after the first section.

Wolves turn the game upside down in the second third

The guests from Dreirosenstadt got off to an optimal start in the second third and scored another lead through Tobias Stuckenberger (22nd).

“In the aftermath, we had to think twice about that too.

But then we got reckless, all of a sudden we all just wanted to play offensively and so we allowed many two-to-one situations with additional shots for the opponent, "said Moosburg coach Bernie Englbrecht, describing the decisive phase.

Vilshofen turned the game around in less than four minutes: Jan Bula (32nd), Jan Stern (35th) and Patrick Geiger (36th) gave the Wolves a 4-2 lead with counter goals.

EV Moosburg leaves many opportunities

The green and yellow tried in the last third to come back in the rain from Vilshofen.

But it was no longer enough for more than Giuseppe Parlato's (51st) goal, who was served by Max Retzer in an exemplary manner.

Because one's own chances were negligently missed - and the hosts were invited to score goals: After a disk was lost behind the EVM goal, the puck came to ESC striker Stern, who restored the old distance (58th).

When EV Moosburg took the goalie off the ice, Patrick Geiger scored 6: 3 in the empty goal and put a bitter damper on the promotion round ambitions of Upper Bavaria.

"It was a crucial game for us, whether we qualify for the playoffs or not," admitted EVM coach Englbrecht.

His team now has to score against Dingolfing and is also dependent on slips of the competition.
