The EC Peiting has ended its dry spell.
In the Oberliga derby against EV Füssen, the team clearly got the upper hand in the end - not least because the work in the special teams worked.
Peiting - The dry spell with the last three defeats in a row is over: EC Peiting won the last game of the year - it was 5-1 on Thursday evening in the derby on home ice against EV Füssen. "There was a bit of pressure," said ECP trainer Anton Saal, referring to the latest results. In his squad he made - despite a quick 1-0 lead - a certain uncertainty in certain phases of the game. “The majority helped us to get back into the game,” said Saal. The ECP scored three goals in a power play, and one goal was even scored in a minority.
The Peitinger started well - the first noteworthy offensive action led to the lead. Thomas Heger conquered the target, Ty Morris slipped it in front of the goal, where it deflected Florian Stauder to make it 1-0 (3rd). As a result, there was a lot of activity in front of both gates, whereby the Füssener had the better chances. Eric Nadeau (5th), Marc Besl (7th) and Florian Simon (12th) failed free-standing in front of and against ECP keeper Andreas Magg, who this time had been given preference over Florian Hechenrieder. Andrey Taratukhin even hit the bar (12th). "Our game slowed down a bit after the early goal," said ECP youngster Markus Czogallik in the break interview on "Sprade TV". Peiting then played two penalties from Füssen in quick succession. In the second power play, Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa scored 2-0 (16th).
EC Peiting hits three times outnumbered and once outnumbered
In the middle third, Thomas Heger initially missed the third ECP goal when he, played well, approached EVF keeper Benedikt Hötzinger (23rd).
After that, Peiting survived two outnumbered games, but then conceded - after a lost duel in the neutral zone - the 1: 2 (31st).

As a result, the hosts received two more penalties (46th, 48th) and survived these situations without too much problems. "I have never seen a team this season that play such a tough defense," praised EVF coach Marko Raita. The constantly striving Füssener, however, made too little of their power play situations. In the final phase, Peiting could have made the result clear. Feuercker (53rd), Nagtzaam (54th) and Dominic Krabbat (60th) just missed or failed at Hötzinger.
On Sunday, January 2nd, 6 p.m., the Peitinger team will compete at home again.
