Niko Kovač has to leave the club after only one and a half years as coach of the French first division soccer club AS Monaco.
This is reported by the AFP news agency with reference to sources within the club and several French media.
The former Bayern coach took up his post in the summer of 2020 and his contract ran until 2023.
Kovač took third place with Monaco in the 2020/2021 season.
The team, which also includes Kevin Volland and Alexander Nübel, is currently in sixth place.
In August Monaco also failed in the play-offs for the Champions League to Shakhtar Donetsk.
