Coupe de France: Lille supporters will be banned from traveling to Lens on Tuesday for the derby

Lille supporters will not be able to accompany their team on Tuesday (9:00 p.m.) to Lens during the round of 16 of the Coupe de France because of "a real and serious risk of confrontation", according to a decree from the Ministry of the Interior published Friday in the Official Journal.

"Relations between supporters of RC Lens and LOSC have been marked by animosity for many years," said the ministry.

It therefore prohibits "the individual or collective movement, by any means, of any person availing himself of the quality of supporter of the Lille Olympique Sporting Club or behaving as such" between the municipalities of the department of the North, on the one hand, and the municipality of Lens (Pas-de-Calais), on the other hand.

A decree of the prefect of Pas-de-Calais, on December 23, had already prohibited Losc supporters from entering the enclosure of the Bollaert-Delelis stadium in Lens and its surroundings, as well as in several streets of the city center. from Lens and the neighboring town of Liévin, from Tuesday 6 a.m. to Wednesday 6 a.m.

Seven injured in September

After overflows in the stands during the Lens-Lille derby on September 18 in Ligue 1, the two clubs had received sanctions from the League (LFP), including the closure for Lille of the visitor parking lot during matches played away until 'on December 31.

During this match, dozens of Lensois supporters had invaded the field to do battle with the Lille park, from which seats had been thrown.

The clashes, limited by the intervention of the CRS, left seven injured, according to the Ministry of the Interior.

The ministry further recalls that the police remain "strongly mobilized to face the terrorist threat" and to manage the migratory situation in Calaisis and the Hauts-de-France coast and that they "cannot be distracted from these priority missions to respond to excesses linked to the violent behavior of supporters in the context of sporting events ”.
