Two weeks ago, Kevin Durant led a lackluster Brooklyn roster to a win over Joel Ambide and Philadelphia, waving goodbye to them in a disparaging manner on the parquet floor.

Tonight (Thursday-Friday) came the revenge, with Ambide doing the same for KD, after scoring 34 points and leading the Sixers to 102: 110 over the Nets away.

The two stars were in continuous trash talk throughout the game, teasing each other time and time again, mentioning that sporting rivalry on the floor is not necessarily hostility outside of it.

"We respect each other so much, and when we play against each other, fire comes out of us, the competitive side comes out of us," explained Durant who returned after nearly two weeks of isolation and finished with 33 points.

"All the games between me and Joel look like this, even in Allstar ... we try to convey to each other that we are in the same energies, that we both want the victory very much. I like competitive people like him, because they get the best out of you."

Ambide also explained that the exchange with Durant during the game was actually a way of expressing mutual appreciation. "Obviously I have a huge respect for him. If there's one player I think is as talented as me or even more talented than me, it's obviously he is. I admire his style of play. We're just competitive people. It's important to me to win every game, and tonight it was important to me. Especially because we played against the best team in the East. "

Philadelphia did appear for the game without a coach after Doc Rivers was ordered to go into isolation, but continued the positive period with a third straight win. Tonight's game was already a real statement of intent for them, and now they hope to continue from that point until the end of the season. "In principle, our whole team has been infected with Corona, so we should be fine from now on," said Andre Drummond. "We took this thing off of ourselves, and we're supposed to be fine by the end of the season."

It turns out that this is how they bring mutual appreciation.

Golden State clarifies: Despite the team's excellent fitness, despite the hierarchy built throughout the season, Clay Thompson will jump to the top five as soon as he is ready to return to the floor.

The shooting guard, who is recovering from a series of injuries, held a full training session tonight with the rest of the Warriors' top five players for the first time since the 2019 playoff final series, and already looks ready to return to the pitches.

Thompson could have returned to play even before Christmas, but the Warriors wanted to make sure he was 100 percent ready to avoid unnecessary risks.

It's getting closer.

"I'm starting to think about what the quintet will look like with him. He'll open as soon as he's back, I do not mean to procrastinate, and we'll see what that means for the rotation," explains Steve Kerr.

"I'm sure we have a lot of players who can be in rotation and help us win games. I have a lot of options, and not enough minutes of play. It will be complicated, but those are good troubles. It will take him time to get back on both sides of the field, but he has not played NBA anymore. "Two and a half years, and that's understandable. We'll have more than half a season to get him back on track, that's an advantage."
