The Boston Celtics, one of the most glorious teams in NBA history, are parting ways with one of the players who made it one.
Today (Friday) it was revealed that Sam Jones, who starred in the green uniform in the 1950s and 1960s, died last night at the age of 88 in a hospital in Florida.
The former guard, who played 12 seasons in the NBA, has won no fewer than ten championships, with only his teammate of those years, Bill Russell, leading him with one more championship in the all-time table.

During his career, Jones was selected five times for the All-Star Game, included three times in the top five in the second season and averaged 17.7 per game.
After his career, Jones was honored when the number he wore, 24, was set aside by the Celtics.
In addition, he was named the Basketball Hall of Fame and was recently included in the list of the 75 greatest players of all time.
Just before the Celtics game against the Suns, it was announced that there would be a minute of silence in Jones' memory.
Celtics coach Ima Yuduka praised the club's legend: "When you look at the number of championships and what he has achieved, it's clear to you that this is a great loss to the community here."
