Famous soccer agent Juan Figer, who negotiated lucrative contracts for several of South America's top soccer players, died on Friday, his company said. “It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news that we are closing 2021 without the presence of my grandfather Juan,” said on Instagram Stephanie Figer, who is herself a sports agent. “Unfortunately, after a fight, he did not withstand a heart attack and died today,” said a post on the Instagram of the group Figer. Local media in Brazil, where he lived for many years, estimated his age at 87. Uruguayan Figer has been involved in some of football's most iconic transfers. He played a role in theoperation that led Diego Maradona to Naples in 1984 and in the transfer of Romario from PSV Eindhoven to FC Barcelona. He was also involved in Denilson's transfer from Sao Paulo to Real Betis in 1998, which broke the then world record. Other players he has negotiated contracts for include Brazilian internationals Socrates, Dunga, Robinho and Roberto Carlos.
