Ryoyu Kobayashi took the small mishap after the award ceremony with humor.

After his victory at the New Year's event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Japanese ski jumper laughingly held up his half trophy and posed for photos.

The glass price had been split in half.

"It's been damaged a bit, but not completely broken," Kobayashi said to the trophy, which consists of two parts and is glued together.

"The glue didn't work well," said tour spokesman Ingo Jensen when asked and added with a wink: "If even the trophy flies, he has a really good chance of winning the tour."

Kobayashi actually does.

After his victories in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the overall tour standings, the Japanese is already more than seven meters ahead of second-placed Norwegian Marius Lindvik.

As the best German, Markus Eisenbichler is fourth.

By the way, Kobayashi's trophy from January 1 is being repaired and will be delivered to the 25-year-old.
