The English media reported today (Sunday) that Newcastle want Pierre-Emerick Obmiang from Arsenal in the loan deal with a purchase option in the summer for £ 20 million.
The Magpies struggling against relegation turned to the Gunners to get the 32-year-old striker for the rest of the season, including an option to make the deal permanent in five months.
Obamyang's days at Arsenal seem short after he was recently stripped of captaincy by manager Mikel Arteta last month for breach of discipline.
The Gabonese striker, who was late for a holiday in his homeland, has been suspended and has not returned to the squad since the 2-1 loss to Everton on 6 December.
Arteta allowed him to leave the Gunners early for the African Championship as there was little chance he would make the squad for Saturday’s match against Manchester City, a game in which Arsenal lost 2-1 to the champions.
It seems that Obamyang will not play for the club again, and may become the first signing in the new ownership of Newcastle.

Many see the January transfer window as crucial to Newcastle's chances of survival in the league, with the attack causing concern among the club's professional team following the injuries of Callum Wilson and Alan Saint-Maximin in last week's 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
