The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' soccer game against the New York Jets would not have been remarkable in itself had it not been for the third quarter incident.
With a highly unusual action, professional Antonio Brown from the Buccaneers caused a scandal and was then thrown from the team by his trainer.
“He's no longer a Buc.
That's the end of the story, "said coach Bruce Arians on Sunday after the 28:24 success at the New York Jets.
The coach didn't want to say more about Brown.
69-year-old Arians made it clear that he only wanted to talk about the players who were still part of his team.
In the US media there is now even open speculation about whether Brown's career after twelve years in the NFL could end with this game day.
The 33-year-old Brown was so upset against the Jets that he took off his jersey and just walked off the field.
Brown had been replaced by coach Arians.
His teammate Mike Evans tried in vain to stop him and prevent him from taking off the shoulder pads.
Brown tossed his shirt and gloves to fans in the stands.
Then he hopped around in front of the stands a few more times and waved to the visibly confused spectators.
Shirtless, he jogged into the dressing room at MetLife Stadium.
Compassion from Tom Brady
Brown had repeatedly caused a stir in the past and sometimes received considerable fines for misconduct, even off the field.
At the beginning of last season he switched to the Bucs.
He had been banned from the league for a violation of the code of conduct for the first eight weeks, then won the Super Bowl with his team.
Most recently, Brown was sentenced to three games suspension from the league for a forged vaccination ID.
NFL superstar Tom Brady was disappointed with the events after the game and worried about his ex-teammate: “Everyone who can should help him as he needs it to be.
We all love him and feel for him.
We want to see him in top form - unfortunately that won't be on our team. "
