Munich - Michael Schumacher celebrates his birthday today (January 3rd).

The Formula 1 legend is 53 years old.

How Schumi celebrates his special day is not known.

He has been receiving medical treatment since his tragic accident in December 2013.

He is consistently isolated from his family - there is no information about his current state of health.

On this day, Formula 1 bows to one of its biggest names and encourages him.

Schumi drove for the Italian racing team from 1996 to 2006. In the red Ferrari he won five world championship titles in a row between 2000 and 2004 and ended a long dry spell for the motorsport-crazy Tifosi.

After 2006 he worked for the Italians as a consultant and test driver.

Schumacher even helped determine the racing strategy.

Schumacher and Ferrari - that was probably the greatest love story in Formula 1 history.

Before his five titles with Ferrari, Schumacher won his first two world titles in the Benetton in 1994 and 1995.
