Australian Open: Without going into details, the organizers confirm having granted a "medical exemption" to Djokovic

The Australian Tennis Federation (TA), organizer of the Australian Open, confirmed on Tuesday that a "medical exemption" had been granted to Novak Djokovic so that he could play the first Major of the year (17- January 30).

Djokovic requested a medical waiver which was granted to him after a rigorous examination (of his request) involving two different and independent groups of medical experts,

" Tennis Australia said in a statement released minutes after the world number 1 announced his departure for Australia.

", insists the press release, sheltering behind medical confidentiality so as not to reveal the reasons for the granting of this exemption to the world number 1, who will seek a 21st record Grand Slam title and a 10th coronation, also record, in Melbourne.

Fair and independent protocols have been put in place to assess requests for medical exemptions to ensure a safe and enjoyable 2022 Australian Open for everyone,
