The Danish Christian Eriksen, victim of a heart attack in full match at the Euro last June and carrying a pacemaker since, expressed the wish to play the World Cup 2022 in an interview with Danish television of which excerpts were aired Tuesday.

I want to play football, there is no reason for me to stop,
" the playmaker said in a lengthy interview which will air in full later this week on public broadcaster DR.

My goal is to play the World Cup in Qatar. I can come back ... but do I still have to be selected,
"said the 29-year-old. “
They (the doctors) said it was good. So everything is stable and I have the impression that I had the green light to play football again,
”explained the player, who in December broke his contract with Inter Milan, the authorities in Italy banning everything professional player wearing a pacemaker to practice his trade in this country.
On June 12 in Copenhagen, the former Tottenham player collapsed in the middle of a match against Finland, at the opening of a Euro-2020 postponed for a year because of the pandemic.
A medical team had to perform a cardiac massage in the field to revive him.
Hospitalized, the player was given a pacemaker to regulate his heart rate.
Eriksen resumed training in early December, taking advantage of the facilities at Danish club Odense.
