Mercato: when PSG thought of an exchange between Kean and Icardi

2022-01-04T18:13:41.201Z

To replace Mauro Icardi tracked by Juventus Turin, the Parisian leaders had considered repatriating Moise Kean. But the attacker

It's a story that is making the headlines in the Italian press.

For a few weeks, or even a few months, the transalpine media have seen Mauro Icardi the new striker of Juventus Turin replacing Alvaro Morata, the 29-year-old striker announced at FC Barcelona.

So much for the beautiful package as a Christmas present.

Except that all the planets are not really aligned for a departure from the Argentine center forward in Piedmont.

Indeed, even if the Turin club has shed the mirific salary of Cristiano Ronaldo (around € 30 million net per year), it does not roll on gold.

This is why the Italian leaders would like to obtain Icardi's loan when the PSG board would only agree to study the case on the basis of a dry transfer.

The player's age (28), his status and his purchase price (50 + 5 M € in the summer of 2020) are all reasons which lead the leaders of the capital to refuse the possibility of a loan. .

The situation therefore seems blocked if we consider that Juve's finances do not allow them in the current state to consider such an operation.

That being said, the Parisian officials have not definitively closed the door to their Serie A counterparts. Indeed, Leonardo, the sports director of PSG had studied for a time the feasibility of an exchange between Moise Kean and Mauro Icardi.

17 goals for PSG last season

The Italian striker left good memories with his former employers when he loaned to PSG last season (17 goals). But the 21-year-old center-forward is once again on loan this year to Juventus for two seasons by Everton, with a mandatory purchase option of € 17m. This rather baroque situation seriously complicated the operation envisaged by Paris Saint-Germain. In addition, Moise Kean has already played this season for Everton and then for Juventus Turin. He could not therefore have put on the PSG jersey since FIFA regulations provide that a player cannot wear the colors of more than two clubs during the same season.

This rule had prevented Hatem Ben Arfa from engaging with Nice in 2014-2015 since the former Parisian had already evolved that season with the young people of Newcastle and the club of Hull.

The exchange between Icardi and Kean would therefore have come into full force with the laws of FIFA and would have been invalidated by the international body.

Still, if the Argentinian striker were to go this winter, PSG should find a replacement no matter what.

And it won't be Kean.
