Before the return of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships this weekend, the Professional Football League will send the clubs this Tuesday afternoon the details of the new health protocol for the organization of the matches.

A document readjusted to match new government standards in the fight against the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

As announced by RMC Sport in the morning, the main novelty concerns the return of compulsory tests for all players in the game (staff, players, referees, etc.) regardless of their vaccination status.

Since the beginning of September, the current protocol has been based on the model of the health pass valid in public places in France.

Players with a complete vaccination schedule no longer needed to add a test to be entered on a score sheet.

From this Friday evening, for the Bordeaux-Marseille meeting, the medical manager of each club will have to complete a certificate including a negative PCR or antigen test of less than 48 hours for all the players and members of the extended staff.

A rule also valid for the referees and all the people having access to the cloakroom area.

Reduced isolation time

The isolation period for positive cases is changing to correspond to new government provisions.

The rule of 10 days of isolation is replaced by isolation of 7 consecutive days at the onset of symptoms or on the first day of the test.

A fully vaccinated person can be released from this isolation for nearly five full days if they have tested negative or have had no clinical signs for 48 hours.

On the other hand, one point of the regulations does not change: if 20 players out of a list of 30 (provided to the LFP) are available, the match can take place.

In addition, as explained by RMC Sport, several points of general organization disappear, such as fictitious kick-offs or pre-match team photos.

A doubt still remains on the holding of Bordeaux-OM, scheduled for Friday evening.

The Girondins, who declared 21 positive cases last weekend, will have to wait for the tests carried out on Wednesday before requesting a postponement of the meeting.
