The world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic will try to defend the Australian Open title which opens on January 17 in Melbourne, after receiving medical clearance and will not have to get vaccinated against Corona.
This was announced by the Serbian today (Tuesday) on his Instagram account.
All players and staff must be vaccinated to participate in the tournament, or must be exempted from an independent panel of experts.
So far Djokovic, who has won the Australian Championship nine times, has not spoken publicly about his immunization status.
"I spent fantastic quality time with my loved ones during the break and now I have received medical clearance and I can look forward to 2022," he wrote on his Instagram account.
