Through Max Guazzini, Fabien Galthié established contacts with the 1er REC, based in Carpiagne, a district of Marseille. The Blues will rub shoulders with the harsh methods of preparation of this regiment of legionaries, which serves in Mali.

As Le Figaro revealed in mid-October, the XV of France will carry out at the end of January in Carpiagne an internship in a camp of the foreign legion. Contact had been established thanks to Max Guazzini, who remained very close to Fabien Galthié who was his player and then his trainer in Paris. The former president of Stade Français is very involved with the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment, which serves in Mali. So much so that the previous chief of staff, Colonel Meunier, had given him the insignia of colonel of the Foreign Legion reserve last June.

Max Guazzini took advantage of these privileged relations to, in mid-October, introduce Fabien Galthié to Colonel Henri Leinekugel Le Cocq, the new commander of the 1er REC.

The coach of the XV of France had spent the day with the legionaries before discussing at length on the methods of preparation and training of these elite soldiers.

I learned a lot of things,

then entrusted the coach of the XV of France to Figaro.

We may be inspired by some.
