First report from December 29th:
Oberstdorf / Munich - When the ski jumpers jump from the Schattenbergschanze on December 29th, the question arises like every year: Which athlete can win the overall ranking of the Four Hills Tournament?
The biggest favorite is the Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi, but DSV-Adler Karl Geiger is also hoping for the tour victory.
He would be the first German athlete since Sven Hannawald to win the Four Hills Tournament.
Four Hills Tournament: Karl Geiger wants to succeed Sven Hannwald
Karl Geiger lost the overture of the expected duel to Ryoyu Kobayashi, but he didn't let it bother him at all. “The basic idea fits. I think I can approach it with good self-confidence, "said the greatest German ski jumping hope after his second place in the qualification at the beginning of the 70th Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf with a view to the upcoming competition. The 28-year-old local hero jumped 127.5 meters and only had to admit defeat to the Japanese Kobayashi.
Even if the weather forecast predicts a difficult jump, Karl Geiger is confident about the competition.
It would be "even worse", predicted Geiger, who grew up only a few meters away from the ski jump.
“But in the end you have to be prepared for it and then just make sure you make a good jump.” The 70th anniversary of the tour is about the first triumph for the German ski jumpers since Sven Hannawald * 20 years ago.
Four Hills Tournament: overview of dates and broadcast
