Earning a lot of money, getting to see numerous places in the world and being cheered by fans - what could be nicer?

Obviously, this life is not a dream come true for everyone in the long run.

In the Netherlands, a professional has now caused a bang.

Former Dutch international Davy Pröpper ended his career completely unexpectedly.

The 30-year-old did so despite a contract with PSV Eindhoven * that ran until the summer of 2023.

The club from the top Dutch division Eredivisie * officially announced on Tuesday (January 4th) that the team-mate of WM * hero Mario Götze had lost interest in football and wanted to end his career for this reason.

That is why the contract with Pröpper was terminated.

“That feels like a relief.

That's why I know it's the right decision, ”said the footballer, explaining the highly unusual step.

Only last summer Pröpper returned to his Dutch homeland.

He had previously played for Brighton & Hove Albion for four years since 2017 in England's Premier League *.

"I had hoped that when I returned to the Netherlands, the joy of football would return," continued Pröpper: "Unfortunately, it turned out to be not that easy." He added that he no longer felt comfortable "in football culture" Dutchman who played in central midfield.
