The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will see the use of video assistant referee (VAR) technology in all 52 matches for the first time in the history of the competition.
CAF said in a statement on its official website that the use of technology in the current competition, which begins next Sunday and will continue until February 6 in Cameroon, aims to improve the image of arbitration.
The tournament judging list consists of 24 referees, 31 assistant referees and eight video technology referees from 36 countries, in addition to two referees from the Confederation of North and Central America and the Caribbean “CONCACAF” as part of the talent exchange program between the two federations.
