In Catholic Italy, football is traditionally played in Serie A on Epiphany.
But that didn't apply to all teams on Thursday;
In the run-up, a total of four of the scheduled games had to be postponed due to corona cases.
The local health authorities ordered several teams to be quarantined, including the Udinese Calcio, US Salernitana, Bologna FC and Turin FC clubs.
The league refused to reschedule the games and decided on Thursday that a club must compete in the future if they have at least 13 outfield players and a goalkeeper at their disposal.
Master Inter was also affected by the lack of clarity about the quarantine for the teams: The front runner traveled to Bologna and even warmed up in the Dall'Ara Stadium, although it was clear that the game would not take place after the eight positive tests at Bologna.
“There's a lot of confusion.
It's an abnormal situation, ”said Inter's managing director Giuseppe Marotta.
Only after the Inter players had waited 45 minutes for a kick-off did the referee cancel the game.
There is now a threat of a decision at the Green Table.
Milan catch up with Inter
In this corona chaos, almost two top games were lost.
AC Milan won against AS Roma 3-1 (2-1) and with 45 points are now just one point behind leaders Inter, who now have one game less.
The Milanese also expanded their lead on third-placed SSC Napoli, who did not go beyond 1: 1 (1: 0) at Juventus Turin despite being in the lead.
For Milan, Olivier Giroud scored with a hand penalty (8th) and Junior Walter Messias (17th) for an early lead, Rafael Leao (82nd) added late.
Tammy Abraham (40.) met the connection for the Romans, who were only nine on the pitch in the end: Rick Karsdorp saw yellow-red (74th) as did Gianluca Mancini, who caused another penalty (90 + 4).
The Swedish old star Zlatan Ibrahimović failed to goalkeeper Rui Patricio (90 + 5).
