Romania's former world number one Simona Halep qualified for the Melbourne Women's Tennis Championships final after defeating China's Kenwen Cheng 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Halep, who suffered a lot of injuries during the 2021 season, continued her successful return, as the current tournament is the third in a row that she has reached at least the semi-finals and is one step away from winning the title.
Halep will meet in the final with Russian Veronika Kodermetova, who advanced to this stage after Japan's Naomi Osaka withdrew from the match due to an abdominal injury.
And the current final will be the third for Kodermitova in her record of participation in the singles competitions in the women's professional tournaments.
