Dorfen / Erding - No matter how good or bad things are for the two teams - all ice hackers at ESC Dorfen and TSV Erding are looking forward to the derby.

The next edition of the classic will take place this Sunday at 5.30 p.m. in the Dr.-Rudolf-Halle.

Spontaneous people do not even need to come here.

According to the ESC ice hockey boss Manfred Detterbeck, the 300 available tickets were already sold out on Friday morning.

The game can be followed via the live stream - also in the restaurant.

After two defeats to the Gladiators, the Ice Pirates are eager to turn the tables. The impressive home victories against Amberg and Schweinfurt give the ESC courage, although the personnel situation is difficult with around half a dozen injured and sick players. The complete second series of attacks with captain Christian Göttlicher, Sandro Schröpfer and Basti Rosenkranz is missing.

Coach Franz Steer primarily builds on the first row of attacks with Tomas Vrba, Urban Sodja and Lukas Kirsch. In addition, he has to get along with only four defense lawyers - Simon Franz, Benedikt Dietrich, Erik Walter and Gasper Susanj. “What they're tearing down at the moment is worth all honors,” praised Steer. After today's game cancellation from Buchloe, the ice pirates are still missing young striker Josef Folger (match penalty). On the other hand, the recently slightly injured goalkeeper Luca Endres will do well with the unexpected break, so that with him and Andi Marek there are at least two reliable goalies available. Steer also called Alexander Voglhuber and Dario Braun from 1b as well as U 20 junior Reik Walter to the squad.

"Coaching is difficult in this situation, because you have to be careful that the third row doesn't come against the first of the opponent, but the boys learn from game to game," says Steer.

Words of praise came from Schweinfurt's coach Andreas Kleid after the most recent game.

“They close the rooms and the gangs, the defenders come immediately and block the strikers.” Dorfen overran his defense away from the face-off with the three top people Vrba, Sodja and Susanj and cleverly scored the winning goal.

Of course, the Erding Gladiators want to avoid being overrun on Sunday. You will not be blinded by the ESC standings or the first leg, which Dorfen lost 3-0. “It's a completely different team than in Erding,” warns coach Thomas Vogl. "And besides, a derby is always something special, no matter what the standings are." He predicts: "This will be the hottest game of the season."

Vogl also has to vary again.

In addition to the long-term injured players Timo Borrmann and Alex Gantschnig, the privately prevented Daniel Krzizok is missing, and there are no funding license players from Deggendorf available: "Trainer Jiri Ehrenberger needs his people himself, the DSC also has personnel problems." But there is no whining.

“We're going to Dorfen to get points,” explains Vogl confidently, who is already looking forward to the “hot atmosphere”.
