The Erdinger long-distance shooter Felix Karpfinger wins Bayern silver and DM gold.

He always achieved his best distances in the last attempt.

Erding / Mitterskirchen

- What a weekend for Felix Karpfinger.

The 17-year-old Erdinger long shooter was Bavarian U19 champion in Mitterskirchen on Friday, and the day after he won silver in the German Championship.

Yesterday he finished his successful tour with eighth place among the U23 juniors.

"But now I'm absolutely tired," said the stick athlete on Sunday afternoon.

Over 40 times - including the zeroing - he has peppered the ice stock up to 100 meters.

On Friday Karpfinger had made it exciting until the last round, with 89.47 meters in seventh place.

Then the fifth attempt: "I went inside again," he says.

"I already had the qualification for the German in my pocket, so I could fully attack." And that is what he did.

"I laid the stick super soft, the track fit," says Karpfinger happily.

The reward: 97.07 meters.

Now it was time to wait and see whether one of the six ahead of him would strike back. "I thought two could do it," reveals Karpfinger: Johannes Michl and Maximilian Kloiber, the team-mate from SC Oberhummel, who had been on the silver course for a long time, ultimately with 92.40 m, only came fourth. But Karpfinger had catapulted himself all the way to the top. Almost four meters lay between his width and the two other medalists Maximilian Mayer (93.27 m) and Johannes Michl (93.17 m). By the way, the pleasing Erdinger result on that day made Antonia Meindl (SC Schwindkirchen) perfect, who won Bayern gold in the U 19 juniors (report to follow).

Things didn't go quite as well for Karpfinger in the U23 competition, where they played with a stricter outsole. 84.32 meters was only enough for ninth place here. Jonas Trunczik from SC Schwindkirchen finished eighth with 84.98 m. He regards the U23 competition as a training unit. “But I was not satisfied with my performance here. The main thing, however, was that I also managed to qualify for the U 23 DM ”, says Karpfinger.

But first the U19 competition took place on Saturday. This time Karpfinger even overcame the 100 meter sound barrier (100.48 m). Again it was the last attempt, but this time the situation was different. This time he was in the lead before, and this time Michl put him under a lot of pressure with 103.31 meters in the fifth attempt. "I was then a little disappointed that I was caught," says Karpfinger, "but also a little proud that I managed to get out of the 100 meters under pressure". Bronze went to Nico Herr from Baden-Württemberg (99.48 m). For Kloiber it was again only fourth.

Erdinger rounded off the final days in Mitterskirchen with eighth place in the U 23-DM: 76.50 meters in the third attempt.

In storms and rain and with 40 shots in the bones, there was simply nothing left in the quiver, Karpfinger admits.

Now the 17-year-old, who works as a nanny in the AWO kindergarten, is looking forward to a little rest.

In two weeks we will start again - then team shooting will be the order of the day.
