For EA Schongau, 13 in the Bavarian Ice Hockey League has become a lucky number.

After the appearance at EC Pfaffenhofen, the club can now easily look forward to the remaining main round games.

Schongau - 13 remains the lucky number of EA Schongau.

Once again the "Mammoths" competed with this number of field players, and once again they won.

Due to the 6-2 away win at ERC Pfaffenhofen, the EAS is no longer deprived of a place among the best eight teams in the Bayern League before the last two games of the main round, and thus participation in the promotion round.

“It's amazing, we did it ourselves without having to look at others,” beamed EAS coach Rainer Höfler after the strong series since mid-December.

Matthias Müller shines with three goals

"In the end we deserved to win, although a higher result would have been possible," said Höfler, considering the many missed opportunities. As with the last victories against Schweinfurt and in Amberg, the EAS got off to a good start with an early goal. Matthias Müller (4th) made it 1-0 for the "Mammuts". After that, both teams came up with opportunities. Goals were only scored in the final phase of the first round. Florian Höfler (17th) increased the deficit to 2: 0, before Pfaffenhofen’s top scorer Nick Endress (18th) scored the 1: 2 in the same power play.

In the middle section, the Schongauers quickly ensured clear conditions. Simon Maucher (25th) and two Müller (28th, 35th), who each met on pass from their storm colleague Roman Tomanek, screwed up the lead of the "Mammoths". In between, Jacub Felsoci (26th) scored the second goal for the Pfaffenhofen team. In a five-minute majority at the beginning of the final round, the Schongauers failed to break away even further. In view of the clear lead, the guests followed the instructions of their coach, which was: play smart and don't risk anything. The "Mammoths" still worked out one or the other good chance. Philipp Keil (50th) - the defender scored in the majority - made the final score.

If the Corona situation allows, the "Mammuts" still have two games - against Peißenberg (January 14) and against Ulm / Neu-Ulm (January 16).
