The NFL playoffs have been set.
Who qualified, what duels are there on the way to the Super Bowl?
An overview of the knockout phase in American football.
Munich / Los Angeles - playoffs, baby!
The biggest league in the world, the National Football League (NFL) is entering its hot phase.
The regular season in American football * is over, 14 teams have secured the coveted playoff ticket for the post-season - more than ever before.
Even a German professional can hope for the Super Bowl on February 13 in Los Angeles.
NFL playoffs: 14 teams still dream of the Super Bowl
What a showdown in the NFL! In the last few seconds of the regular season, anything was still possible for some teams - playoffs or out. Kneel down, pocket a draw and move into the knockout round together with your opponent? Not with the Las Vegas Raiders. With a score of 32:32 against the Los Angeles Chargers with only a few seconds left, the team from the gambling metropolis risked a safe entry for the win, won 35:32 with a field goal - and only because of that made the Pittsburgh Steelers possible for quarterback -Legend Ben Roethlisberger the hardly thought possible participation in the playoffs.
It was a worthy end to a season that, at 18 weeks, was longer than ever.
This means that the best 14 teams of the regular season have been determined, previously only twelve teams qualified for the playoffs.
The wild card round will continue next weekend.
There, twelve teams will initially compete in knockout duels.

NFL: Jakob Johnson and EQ St. Brown from Germany in playoffs
The Green Bay Packers and the Tennessee Titans won their conference. As winners of the NFC or AFC, both teams automatically move into the second round of the playoffs and enjoy home rights. After that, it would only take two wins until the Super Bowl. The German-American wide receiver Equanimeous “EQ” St. Brown is under contract with the Packers. His younger brother Amon-Ra of the Detroit Lions won the brother duel on the last day of the match with 37:30 and already started his sixth touchdown. As the second worst team of the season, the Lions will be absent from the playoffs.
In the AFC, in addition to the Steelers and the Raiders, the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots have made it into the playoffs.
The Patriots with Jakob Johnson from Stuttgart lost their last main round game against the Miami Dolphins 24:33 and could no longer intercept the Buffalo Bills at the top of the AFC East.
In the first playoff game for Johnson, there will now be a direct duel between the two teams on the German night on Sunday (2.15 a.m.).
