Good news for tennis fans: Novak Djokovic will be able to participate in the Australian Championships.
This morning (Monday) the court in Australia accepted the appeal of the Serbian tennis player, after his entry was banned from the country on the grounds that he did not provide the necessary documents upon his arrival because he had not been vaccinated against Corona.
At the end of the hearing, the judge read out a statement by both parties, who reached an agreement.
The reason is that the Australian government has admitted that it did not in fact give Djokovic enough time to prepare for the decision, after informing him of the intention to cancel his visa.
His passport and personal belongings will be returned to him, and he will immediately leave the isolation where he was held in a hotel.

The judge hearing Djokovic's petition against Australian authorities over the decision to revoke his visa called into question the decision against the Serbian tennis player and his conduct upon landing.
Judge Anthony Kelly argued that Djokovic had received prior medical clearance and an exceptional exemption from getting vaccinated against Corona before coming to Melbourne to take part in the Australian Open, and even presented the necessary documents at the border.
"What else could he have done?", The judge told the state's claims, after Djokovic's lawyers presented him with documents.
The judge ordered the state to pay for Djokovic's legal expenses, and he was released from the hotel, having been held in solitary confinement since last Thursday upon his landing.
However, the story is not yet officially over: Australian Attorney General Christopher Tran has made it clear that Immigration Minister Alex Hawke will consider whether to exercise his authority to revoke Djokovic's visa.
This means that even after the court decision, the minister will be able to revoke the visa again, as the state did at the beginning of the proceedings.
If the minister makes a decision to cancel the visa, Djokovic could not return to Australia for three years.
