As part of the activities of the fifth local session, the Syrian Special Olympics Foundation organized a table tennis tournament in Daraa, with the participation of 30 players representing a number of governorates, in addition to players from the Iraqi Special Olympics.
The National Director of the Syrian Special Olympics, Talal Berneh, said in a statement to SANA that launching tournaments for people with disabilities comes as a way to encourage this category, stressing that the Foundation works through sports tournaments to develop the capabilities of this category, direct care for them and enhance their role in society.
Bernier added that the aim of the fifth local session, which is held under the slogan "With enthusiasm, we reach the summit" is to enable and support the process of integrating people with disabilities into society.
The number of participants in the fifth local tournament reached 3,000 participants in 21 games.
