Summary: Maccabi Tel Aviv - Hapoel Beer Sheva 0: 1 (Sport 1)

More than two months have passed since Patrick Van Leven was fired from Maccabi Tel Aviv and the saga around him has not yet ended. We recently published here in detail that between the Dutchman and Maccabi Tel Aviv there is no agreement on the amount of compensation the coach will receive for the contract he has for a season and a half, Van Leven will continue to receive his salary every month as if he were a club employee until he finds a new team. His contract. However, in recent days, news has been published about Van Leven's intention to sue Maccabi Tel Aviv, claiming that it has stopped paying his salaries, even though an agreement has been reached between the parties.

From the Walla!

Sport shows that during the past month, Maccabi Tel Aviv did not transfer the November salary to Loan Leven, but there is a very interesting reason for this.

It turns out that the Dutch coach was mistakenly given a grant for Maccabi Tel Aviv's immigration to the Conference League.

This is a grant written in Van Leven's contract and he was supposed to receive it due to the fact that Maccabi Tel Aviv did qualify for the Conference League with him, but the contract states that the grant will be paid to him at the end of the season.

Inexplicably, the loan was transferred to Van Leven shortly after he was fired from Maccabi Tel Aviv and after the club found the mistake, the Dutchman was told that he had two options: first, to return the grant given to him by mistake. The second: to keep the grant in his possession, but to offset against the salaries he is supposed to receive. Since the monetary grant given to him is in the amount of more than two monthly salaries, he was told that if he left the grant in his possession, he would not be able to receive the salaries of the months of November and December.

The parties even had a discussion with the participation of a lawyer on Van Leven's behalf and Maccabi Tel Aviv were convinced that the Dutchman's attorney accepted Maccabi Tel Aviv's explanation and understood that a mistake had been made in good faith, so in any case Van Leven now received money in the amount of his salaries. The club insisted and proved that Van Leven's contract states that he should only receive a European grant at the end of the season and is therefore confident in the club that there is no room for a lawsuit from the Dutchman here.

Van Leven, for his part, is still in Israel and as has already been published here, he will be happy to work as head coach if he receives an application.

The financial matters between him and Maccabi Tel Aviv have not yet been resolved, but some in Maccabi Tel Aviv claim that the last thing they want is to confront the Dutchman who worked for Maccabi Tel Aviv for almost five years.
