Maccabi Tel Aviv managed to advance tonight (Tuesday) after a great drama to the quarterfinals of the State Cup after beating Urbani Kiryat Shmona 3: 5 on penalties.
The trophy holder twice fell behind a clutch by Morgan Fryer (9 and 61) but managed to equalize twice from goals by Eden Shamir (12) and a huge goal by Avi Rikan with a kick from the air (85).
In overtime no goals were scored, but with kicks from the penalty spot the Yellows kept their composure and achieved a dramatic victory on the way to the next stage.
At the same time the club is working on strengthening the group.
Serbian media reported tonight that Yellows coach Mladen Krestic is interested in Australian stopper Milos Degenek, who has played for the Red Star Belgrade for the past two years, and left at the end of last season.
Degenek was already on the list of candidates for Maccabi Tel Aviv several years ago and now his name is rising again in the context of strengthening the team.
