According to the Bild newspaper, playmaker Richard Neudecker is on the list of four clubs.
Whether 1860 can extend with him depends, as is so often the case, on the money.
With all the joy about the harmonious Belek training camp and the successful endurance test against Rostock (3: 1): There are two topics that are burning under the nails of many 1860 fans these days.
Firstly: Did the lions "give away" money because ex-captain Sascha Mölders, 36, was first resigned and shortly afterwards joined a new club (the regional league team Großaspach)?
Second: Can Richard Neudecker, 25, be kept beyond the summer despite the impending budget cut?
According to "Bild" four clubs are after the playmaker: the first division SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Willem II Tilburg (Netherlands), second division FC Ingolstadt and third division rivals 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
Were the lions at Mölders too generous?
At the request of Münchner Merkur and tz, Günther Gorenzel responded to both questions.
As expected, the sports director kept a low profile on the subject of Mölders.
His answer: "My understanding of professional cooperation with players is not to comment on contract contents in public, not only for reasons of data protection, but out of mutual respect."
Gorenzel's answer on the subject of Neudecker is more detailed, but similarly lacking in content: “In principle, every player whose contract expires has it in their own hands to advertise themselves in the upcoming games over the next few weeks.
In addition, every future sporting decision that Michael Köllner and I will make together can be seen from the future scope in the commercial area.
Translated: It could be difficult to keep the new decker, who was only bound until the summer (2021: six goals, nine assists) and who is also the best earner, on.
The club is dependent on additional money, for example by making it to the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup.
It would also have been helpful to agree a clause with Mölders that in 1860 only pays outstanding salaries until the ex-captain has found a new club.
The fans hope that the lions were clever enough - but it is more likely that the desire to achieve “a clean separation” (Köllner, Gorenzel) cost an unusually high amount.
