With a 2-1 deficit in the second set, Tomic was documented exchanging things with the referee in front of the organizers and telling him: "I'm sure I'll find a positive for Corona in the next three days.
Tomic, who claimed he did not feel well even though he was found negative on a quick test, criticized: "I do not believe that tests are not done. Allowing players to come on the pitch with a quick test in the room, there is no official PCR test."

The Australian tennis player came up to play sick in this game, but came out negative on an antigen test and was therefore forced to get on the court.
He did not really give a fight to his Russian rival and his documented criticism will certainly not add quiet to the organizers, who are currently under great attack and harsh criticism following their conduct towards Novak Djokovic, the world ranked number one Serb who refuses to be vaccinated.
