As in the previous games, German pilots are the favorites for a medal place in the bobsleigh competitions at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Beijing - On October 26, 2020, the first series of bobsleigh test drives began at the Yanqing National Sliding Center.
These test runs were originally planned for the spring of the same year.
They had to be postponed to autumn because of the corona pandemic outbreak.
The center was built especially to host competitions in tobogganing, bobsleigh and skeleton.
It is shaped like a Chinese dragon.
The racetrack is 1,975 meters long and has 16 curves.
The Yanqing National Sliding Center can accommodate a total of 10,000 visitors.
Bobsleigh at the 2022 Winter Olympics: The competitions
Both men's and women's competitions will be held in the sport of bobsleigh at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
For the first time women competed in the two-man bobsleigh at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
At the 2022 Winter Olympics, women will also ride in mono bobsleigh.
Bobsleigh pilots or teams compete against each other in the following competitions:
Men's four-man bob
Men's two-man bob
Women's two-man bob
Women's mono bob
Bob: The dates of the competitions at the 2022 Winter Olympics
The bobsleigh competitions will take place during the 2022 Winter Olympics from February 13-20, 2022.
A total of 170 Olympians qualified to take part in these competitions.
There are 124 men and 46 women.
In the men's two-man bobsleigh, four runs are scheduled for February 14th and 15th, 2022.
The decision will be made on February 15th in the last run at 2:50 p.m. (CET).
The men's four-man bobsleigh competitions are scheduled for February 19th and 20th.
The fourth and decisive run will take place on February 20th at 11:20 am.
The first run in the women's mono bobsleigh and thus the premiere in this winter sport discipline is scheduled for February 13th at 9:30 a.m.
Further rounds follow on the same and the next day.
The Olympic champion will be determined in the final on February 14th at 11:00 a.m.
The women will compete in the two-man bobsleigh on February 13th and 14th in the Beijing Ice Channel.
The fourth run will decide on the Olympic victory on February 14th at 2:30 p.m.

International bobsleigh competitions are very popular with the German public.
The spectators can follow the competitions live or as summaries.
The channels Eurosport, ARD and ZDF broadcast corresponding reports from the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Bobsleigh at the 2022 Winter Olympics: The venue
The 2022 Winter Olympics will host the Yanqing National Sliding Center as the venue for the competitions.
Construction of this new sports facility began in 2018. The center was officially opened on October 25, 2021 with two skeleton races.
The track has a total maximum height difference of 121 meters.
The bobsleigh competitions are run over a length of 1,615 meters.
While the Canadian Cynthia Appiah holds the track record in the mono bobsleigh, German pilots and teams were able to secure this in the other Olympic disciplines.
All of these track records are from October and November 2021, respectively.
Bob: These are the favorites for the 2022 Winter Olympics
German bobsleigh drivers have dominated international bobsleigh competitions for many decades.
The favorite at the Olympic Winter Games is the German pilot Francesco Friedrich, who won gold in both the four-man and two-man bobsleigh at the previous 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
In the women's category, the German Olympic champion Mariama Jamanka and the Canadian Cynthia Appiah are favorites.
