From the end of January handball should be played for points again in Bavaria.

The BHV has now announced the first details of how to proceed - and what happens if you fail to attend.

Würmtal - It has been certain since last weekend that the handball season in Bavaria will continue at the end of January.

Now the Bavarian Handball Association (BHV) explained this decision in a detailed statement and named the first cornerstones for the continuation of game operations.

Most of the HSG Würm-Mitte teams and all of the HC Gauting teams are affected in the Würmtal.

Association survey by the BHV: More than 70 percent of the clubs agree

According to the association, the season should continue in the previous mode without a reallocation of the schedules and a catch-up date should be found for games that have been canceled in the past few weeks. This decision was "very controversial and discussed intensively", but was ultimately made "in the presidium and in the districts with a large majority", the BHV announced. The decision is also based on the result of the recently conducted club survey. In this, "over 70 percent (in the upper leagues even more than 80 percent) said they would like the game to be resumed under the current requirements".

The BHV sees itself strengthened in its actions by the extension of the general rules for sport and the exemption for schoolchildren under the age of 18 by the Bavarian state government on Tuesday.

In addition, the vaccination rate has increased and - unlike the season break in November - there were almost the same pandemic conditions in all districts, which makes almost fair competition possible, the association explains.

Handball in Bavaria: Further details on the continuation of the season are pending

The BHV wants to provide additional information, for example on the time corridor for catch-up games, on extending the season or on feasible and transparent requirements for monitoring the G-rules.

He is already making it clear, however, that game cancellations or withdrawals due to pandemics would not result in fines, but would be considered athletic.

The BHV reserves the right to make further changes to the regulations in the course of the pandemic.
