Summary: Kiryat Shmona - Maccabi Tel Aviv 2: 2 (3: 5 on penalties) (Sport 1)

Serious allegations in Maccabi Tel Aviv against the refereeing last night (Tuesday) in Kiryat Shmona and especially against Kwon Omar Barviro who approved the second goal of the Kiryat Shmona team in the eighth game of the Cup final.

"There is no situation in which from his position, when Daniel Peretz hides the ball in his body, HaKwon could see that the ball crossed the goal line with certainty," Maccabi Tel Aviv officials said last night.

"To almost decide a knockout game in a cup on a ball that is certainly impossible to see if it has crossed the goal line, it is impossible."

The referees' union also breathed a sigh of relief last night and realized that if Maccabi Tel Aviv won, the allegations against Hakwon would be more minor.

"The truth must be told, Avi Rikan prevented great embarrassment from the judges 'union," a senior judge in the judges' union admitted last night.

"I do not want to think about where we would be now if the borderline event had been determined for this quarter-final.

Beyond the very problematic case, the referees argued last night that there are enough leagues in Europe where games with VAR are already from rounds earlier than the quarterfinals, as is the practice in Israel and therefore should think ahead of next season to start using the video system in the state cup at least.

"There is no reason not to use the system even in pitches that need infrastructure because they are not in the Premier League. Today we witnessed a tangible example that showed how much the VAR system is needed. Anyone who doubts the system, knows how wrong he is," the judges said.
