The press spokesman for the Tölzer Löwen, Simon Rentel, has apparently expressed massive criticism of TEG manager Jürgen Rumrich at Hubert Hörmann and brought himself into play as managing director.

The result: The chairman of the EC Bad Tölz dismissed the club spokesman.

There is already a successor in Thomas Spiesl.

Bad Tölz - In terms of sport, the Tölzer Löwen turned into relatively calm waters with a very successful course. But internally the waves hit high: The criticism of Jürgen Rumrich, managing director of the Tölzer Eissport-Gesellschaft, does not stop at his own employees and now leads to the dismissal of Simon Rentel. The press spokesman is accused of having collected internal information and presented a 24-page dossier with alleged misconduct by the managing director to ECT President Hubert Hörmann. The paper ended with Rentel proposing himself as the new TEG managing director - even with information about salary expectations. “External loyalty, internal criticism, that's perfectly fine,” says Hörmann. "But to spy on your boss and to blacken it on me,that's not working at all. Especially if the allegations are also false. "

Jürgen Rumrich himself does not want to say anything more about Rentel and the “breach of trust”, and is even protecting his former employee to a certain extent.

“I'm not that size,” rumbles Hörmann.

Rentel also does not want to take a position yet, but wants to first check the legal step before commenting on the allegations.

The 23-year-old, who did his job flawlessly as spokesman for the second division ice hockey team and Sprade TV commentator, took up his post at the Lions in 2018. The man from Waakirchen interrupted his work at the end of last season to focus on his master’s degree. Martin Vogel took over the post for a short time before the Tölzer parted company after only a few weeks. Rentel was on hand, found time to devote himself to his affair close to his heart while studying and, in addition to promoting the public image of the lion, also got involved in sponsoring. He was already brought into play as managing director when the Löwen were looking for a successor to the slain Christian Donbeck and decided on Rumrich. Now the 23-year-old has started a new attempt to take over the lion's chief position.

Hörmann, as chairman of the main association EC Bad Tölz, responsible for the dismissal and recruitment of the TEG managing director, demonstratively supports Rumrich.

“It's not perfect, none of us are,” says the Tölz building contractor.

“But he is a very decent man, capable of working in a team, has ice hockey expertise as a former national player, connects club and professional team, and simply fits in very well with the overall package.

If he should stop at some point, it's not up to me. "

He and Rumrich take the criticism seriously.

You are aware that the team urgently needs reinforcements due to the numerous failures.

But the lack of success reports in terms of post-commitment cannot be blamed on Rumrich, says Hörmann.

"Rather, we have a very, very difficult situation due to Corona and the absence of the main sponsor." The player market is empty, if there are transfers, other clubs can keep up, but not the Tölzer with a limited budget.

"Some players are not even offered to us because the agents know that we cannot pay the prices," says Rumrich.

In addition, the lions “weren't exactly lucky with their commitments this year,” admits Hörmann.

But they still have a certain budget open for additional commitments, but they have to budget. "It is uncertain whether and to what extent we will receive the state Corona aid, even from the previous season there is still money to be paid," says Hörmann. “If we commit two grenades in this situation and then run into financial problems, everyone says," Are they crazy? " How could they do that? '“Just in time for the next game, the Lions at least close a gap in the storm: On Thursday they signed the Canadian Pascal Aquin from promoted Selb (report to follow).

Hörmann clarifies that DEL 2 is still the right division for the Tölzer Löwen. “If we can afford it and if we get a license.” But that is only possible if everyone pulls together. The team for the coming season will certainly be a young one. With some familiar faces. Philipp Schlager, Markus Eberhardt, Thomas Merl. “It's my turn to extend the contract,” says Rumrich.

A successor for Rentel has already been found: Thomas Spiesl, a freelancer at Münchner Merkur and has been responsible for reporting for TEV Miesbach for years, has already been found to be responsible for the external image.

The 39-year-old graduate engineer from Weyarn is now responsible for TEG's press work, will lead the press conferences and take care of reporting on the Lions website and social channels.

“I'm looking forward to my new job.

My main concern is to provide the fans with as much information as possible about the DEL 2 team in these difficult times without spectators in the stadium, ”says Spiesl.
